FUSING & SLUMPING GLASS - 1 evening - $80.00
We don't just want you to make a glass art project to take home with you. Instead, we want you to take home the skills to make lots of projects on your own. From the beginning, you'll be introduced to numerous different materials and taught a variety of different techniques. Instead of just learning the way we do it, you'll be free to select the method that best suits your own needs and preferences.
Each individual is unique and works in their own uniquely individual way. Each has their own preference in which tools they like best. Our goal is to provide the options from which you can choose. Our ultimate goal is to have you leave us able to build on the skills you've learned and continue to build beautiful glass art projects.
Instructor Dennis Brady
to be held at DeBrady-Victorian Studio Workshop in Victoria BC
Taught by a professional glass artisan, this single evening class is intended to teach the basics of both fusing and slumping glass. It includes the following:
How different glass responds to heat in a kiln
Understanding compatibility and viscosity
Preparing and using a kiln
Creating firing schedules
Maintaining a kiln log
Preparing and using molds
Introduction to casting in a kiln
Each student will create 2 small fused projects to learn how glass is fused and slumped in a kiln. All tools and materials are included.
Anyone that will want to expand their skills or feel they need help on a difficult project, can either drop in for an Open Workshop, stop into our shop and ask questions of any of our professional staff.
